Just Back From: West Hollywood, CA

In the heart of Los Angeles, West Hollywood is known for its storied nightlife, fashion boutiques, and food scene. While those are things that you can find anywhere, the California sun and the chill LA vibes add a unique spin. Here’s what you need to know about WeHo according to Garrick Lee, Brand Marketing Manager at HEBS Digital.

 

What did you love most about WeHo?

The murals in the neighborhood. They’re an Instagrammer’s dream. My friends and I spent half of the day hunting down different backdrops for Instagram. The hard part was carrying around outfit changes for each mural.

 

 

Where would you take a first-timer in this city?

The pool at the Mondrian West Hollywood. Even if you’re not a hotel guest, you can still spend an afternoon under the sun with a drink in hand.

 

What’s something unexpected that you might find here?

Although WeHo is one of LA’s more walkable neighborhoods, the city is spread out. Unless you rent a car, you’ll have to use a car service to get around. Something unexpected is the city’s new scooters. You can simply pick one up on the sidewalk and head off to your destination. They’re not only fun, but also eco-friendly!

 

What’s your favorite meal and where might we find it?

The Mexican food is amazing in California. Head over to the Sunset Strip for Pink Taco. It has all of the classics like fajitas, enchiladas, and more, but the kicker is the fresh lobster they use in many of the dishes. So good!

 

What is one touristy thing you have to do?

If you are a millennial, or traveling with a millennial, you have to get a quintessential LA Instagram moment with the Urban Light sculpture outside of LACMA. The sea of restored 1920s and 1930s lamps are especially magical at night.

 

What is something they have in this city that you wish you had at home?

Year-round sun with zero humidity. There’s something about the California sun that makes every day that much more special (or it could have just been that I was on vacation).
