Throughout HEBS Digital’s history, our team has led the charge in creating many of today’s best practices in internet marketing and direct online channel distribution for the hospitality industry. HEBS Digital was the first hotel digital marketing firm with the mission of helping hoteliers increase their direct bookings—and we continue to stand by that philosophy today.

History

HEBS Digital evolved out of two startups that revolutionized the hospitality industry. One through its dynamic web-based dynamic packaging technology and the other through its online booking technology.

1996-2000: TravelBreak.com:

This innovative direct supplier-to-consumer online travel marketplace ranked third in traffic after Priceline.com. The website had over 15,000 travel suppliers and 1 million unique visitors. TravelBreak’s co-founder and CEO, Max Starkov, authored and won patent approval for a Web-based application for a dynamic bargaining process to facilitate consumer-driven purchase demand in the travel industry (Serial # 09/557,325), an industry first.

2000-2001: Whale Media Technologies, Inc.

Whale Media Technologies was a cutting-edge hospitality online booking engine and travel technology infrastructure provider to the hospitality, corporate travel and convention/ meeting markets. Under co-founder and CEO Max Starkov’s leadership, Whale Media won the coveted Microsoft 2001 Worldwide RAD Award for the SmartSuite online reservation system for hospitality internet marketing.

2001-Present: HEBS Digital

In 2001, HEBS Digital’s President & CEO Max Starkov saw that hoteliers needed help navigating the digital landscape. People were starting to shift their research and travel bookings to the internet, yet hoteliers weren’t shifting their strategies at the same pace. What followed was an era of severe over-dependence on the OTAs for selling hotel rooms, coupled with high commissions for these bookings. Most hoteliers didn’t know where to look for advice. Through the years, regardless of the numerous changes in the digital technology and marketing space, HEBS Digital has always kept a clear mission: to help hoteliers drive bookings through their most cost-efficient channel, their own websites.

In 2017, the HEBS Digital brand took a leap into the future when their parent company acquired Serenata CRM. Together, HEBS Digital and Serenata CRM have built the first fully-integrated guest engagement, acquisition, and marketing platform.
